Quality Time is a shared Responsibility

Fjällräven is a growing company, constantly entering new markets; hence it becomes increasingly important for us to take responsibility for all our actions. From our hometown in Örnsköldsvik in the north of Sweden to all other parts of the world. One of the most important aspects is our responsibility towards all people taking part in the development and production of our equipment.

Fairness, safety and no discrimination, these are rights that all individuals deserve. But however basic they may be, we need to ensure that they are complied with. We continuously revise our Code of Conduct in order to make our position even clearer. “We have recently even further improved the rights during maternity leave” says Tobias Rantzen, Business Development Manager at Fjällräven. In total our Code of Conduct covers areas such as legal requirements, child labor, safety, and factory and housing conditions and it is a non-negotiable requirement that all suppliers need to follow. We are just as strict on this as we are with the quality of our products.

Long lasting relationships
Agreeing with our strict code of conduct is not enough. They also need to be followed and we believe that the best way to ensure this is ti have tight and long-lasting relationships with our suppliers. The foundation of our product development is knowledge about the actual usage and the product itself. This is why our product developers often visit our factories. These visits become a natural forum for discussing both working conditions and more environmentally friendly production.

But of course we are not stopping there. Both our quality assurance department and one of the world’s leading inspection companies, SGS, are in constant contact with our partners. They provide support by offering knowledge and inspiration when making factory visits throughout the year.  Just as important, they verify that our codes of conducts are shared. Onsite they go through reports and assessments to ensure our strict codes are followed.
