On an unbearably cold night in 1974, on the barren plateau of Abisko in Sweden’s far north, Fjällräven’s founder Åke Nordin decided he never wanted to feel cold again. After many rounds of trial and error, Åke combined the technical knowledge he gathered from his colleagues with his own dedication and creativity to create the first prototype of the iconic Expedition Down Jacket. Through a combination of two durable nylon jackets sewn together, goose down and feathers to fill in the gap, a polyester fibre, waxed drawstrings, and plenty of heart, history was made.

The insulating down we use today is guaranteed to be 100% traceable, ethically produced and of the highest quality. Using thoughtful Swedish design and construction make it easier to repair each garment, if needed.
