A word from Erik Blomberg
Head of Innovation at Fjällräven
We asked Erik to share the biggest challenge in developing the new Hoja range. Here’s what he had to say:
I would say the biggest challenge was probably the Hoja Seatbag Harness. This is a completely new product, which in some ways gives you as a designer a lot of freedom. However, that also comes with the challenge of not having as much to base your ideas on, so in this instance we had to turn to our experience with trekking packs. For 60 or more years we’ve been working on ways to keep a load stable when you’re moving and thinking how you can design straps that lock down tight and securely but that can easily be loosened when you want to adjust something or access your gear.
As you can see in these photos, we went through many prototypes that we produced and tested here in Stockholm before we were satisfied with the final product.
